OCR: recognize the text of a scanned PDF
A scanned document is just a picture: you can't search a word or copy a sentence. OCR (optical character recognition) adds an invisible text layer perfectly aligned with the image: the look doesn't change, but the PDF becomes searchable, copyable and indexable.
Available languages: English, French, Arabic and combinations. Accepts PDFs and images (JPG, PNG, TIFF).
How it works
- Drop a PDF or scanned images
- Choose the document language(s)
- Download the searchable PDF
Frequently asked questions
Does the document's appearance change?
No. The image stays identical; the recognized text is added as an invisible layer.
How accurate is it?
Excellent on a sharp 300 dpi scan. A blurry or skewed scan yields more errors.
Can I then convert to Word?
Yes, run the resulting PDF through the PDF → Word tool.
